Première begins the watch line

CHANEL states that Première debuted in 1987 and preceded its other watch collections. It describes the dial as evoking the stopper of the N°5 fragrance bottle and notes the absence of hour markers.

A Première name alone does not establish material, movement, production date or originality of an individual watch. 1

J12 arrived in 2000

CHANEL states that J12 was created in 2000 as its first unisex sports watch. The brand describes the initial black ceramic J12 as a monochrome, all-black design and says white ceramic followed in 2003.

These historical design claims should not be used to identify every J12 variant without a reference-level record. 21

Ceramic and movement claims are model-specific

CHANEL describes J12 high-resistance ceramic and, for current Calibre 12.1 models, says the movement is COSC certified and produced by the Kenissi Manufacture in Switzerland, co-owned by CHANEL.

Older J12s and other CHANEL collections can use different materials and movements. 2

The family structure is broader than two icons

CHANEL's current official watch collection identifies J12, Première, Code Coco, Boy·Friend and Monsieur de CHANEL. Its Haute Horlogerie signatures also include Mademoiselle Privé.

Collection membership is useful context, not a complete specification or valuation basis. 31

Swiss manufacture does not replace object evidence

CHANEL describes its manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, and current pieces can include precious metals and gemstones. Any material, gem, movement or water-resistance claim needs the exact reference and applicable documentation.

Servicing, alteration and condition can materially affect a particular watch. 231

Keep conclusions source-bounded

The sources support the 1987 Première debut, 2000 J12, selected ceramic chronology and current collection structure. They do not authenticate a watch or establish original components, condition or market value.

Use exact reference, provenance and physical inspection for consequential decisions. 12
