Fabrique Solvil was not simply “Paul Ditisheim, founded 1892”
Pynson distinguishes Ditisheim’s La Chaux-de-Fonds business founded in 1892 from the later factory at Sonvilier. Pynson dates the Fabrique Solvil des Montres Paul Ditisheim name to 1927 and separates the 1929 bankruptcy of Paul Ditisheim SA from Solvil’s survival.
The same research places Ditisheim’s withdrawal from the factory in 1929. 12
Titus TV 60 versus Juvenia Mystère
The judgment records Solvil’s early-1953 Titus TV 60 wristwatch, using transparent discs carrying indices. Juvenia’s competing design was Mystère. The Federal Tribunal rejected Juvenia’s appeal; the dispute is not evidence that Solvil’s watch was legally held to be a copy. 3
People, production and attribution
The factory is a real historical business, independently named in a 1954 judgment. Archival research distinguishes its Sonvilier origins from Paul Ditisheim’s separate 1892 business. Pynson’s note 13 dates Fabrique La Suze to 1918 and its renaming as Fabrique Solvil to 1919.
Ditisheim helped establish the Sonvilier factory; Eugène Butticaz took its management in 1920, according to Pynson. Pynson dates Paul-Bernard Vogel’s control to 1931 and the move of the business to Geneva to 1936. 123
Continuity and the record today
The researched ranges included outside manufacture, with Helvétia supplying watches for the Ditis range. The Federal Tribunal judgment of 16 November 1954 names Fabrique Solvil des Montres Paul Ditisheim SA as a watchmaking litigant.
Pynson dates the name Fabrique des Montres Solvil et Titus to 1956. 23

- Which corporate and trademark transfers connect the historical factory to current Solvil et Titus businesses?
- Later name reuse is not sufficient; this pass did not verify every intermediate transaction.
