Registration and launch are different milestones
The company-register entry for Farer Limited, number 09316365, records incorporation on 18 November 2014. Farer's own story places the brand launch in 2015. These are compatible dates: establishing the legal business and introducing the consumer-facing brand are not necessarily simultaneous.
Keeping them separate avoids creating a false choice between two founding years. The register can establish a company event; a launch account describes the arrival of the brand. Neither date determines when a particular Farer watch was manufactured, sold or first worn. 12
British identity and Swiss-made positioning
Farer presents a British design identity alongside Swiss-made watchmaking. That pairing describes the brand's positioning, but it should not be expanded into a statement that every part originates in one country. Design location, component sourcing, movement manufacture and final assembly are distinct questions.
For an individual watch, check its product documentation rather than using the brand's nationality as a complete manufacturing specification. A production partner and a movement supplier may have different roles. The exact calibre and reference are better starting points for investigating those roles than a broad country label. 24
Exploring the range without inventing a product chronology
The official site's navigation separates families such as GMT, World Timer, Chronograph, Three Hand and Aqua Compressor. That is a useful way to explore different functions and forms without assuming that the watches share identical dimensions or mechanisms.
Start with the function you want to understand, then record the model name and generation. A collection name alone does not identify a generation or its specifications. Keep the reference and the corresponding product information together when comparing watches from different years. 34
The retailer question has a real contradiction
Farer's retailer page lists named retail partners, including Time+Tide and James Porter & Son. Its FAQ also retains wording saying watches are sold directly through Farer's own store. Both statements were visible during the September 2026 check. It would therefore be misleading to say that no retailer directory exists.
The practical response is not to guess which sentence was updated last. Use the retailer directory to identify listed partners, then confirm availability and the terms for the specific seller and purchase. This guide does not recommend buying direct on the mistaken premise that no other listed retail channel exists. 34
Movement guarantee is not a promise about every component
Farer's FAQ describes a five-year movement guarantee and separately lists exclusions. Read those terms as a scoped guarantee rather than a promise that any damage to any part will be covered. The applicable purchase paperwork and current conditions matter when an owner makes a service enquiry.
Check exclusions, start-date rules and transfer conditions in the applicable terms. Those details need to match the seller, region and version of the terms relevant to the watch. Keep the original receipt and ask for the applicable process before arranging work, especially where previous repairs or a second-hand purchase are involved. 4
What the company record cannot answer by itself
A company overview is useful for establishing a legal name and registration date. It is not a complete account of who designs each watch, who makes every component, or the precise ownership percentages behind the business. Director, founder and controlling shareholder are different roles.
This edition therefore avoids converting founder descriptions into a current ownership statement. The next useful enquiry depends on the reader's question: company records for legal identity, model documents for specifications, and the relevant official service information for support. A single 'independent British brand' label cannot substitute for all three. 124

Ownership and continuity
Farer's company registration and subsequent brand launch are separate milestones. This guide does not infer an older lineage or precise current ownership from the brand story. 12
Identification and service
For an individual watch, record the complete reference, serial, dial, case, and movement markings and compare them with dated primary documentation.
A brand history cannot authenticate, appraise, or establish the provenance of a particular watch.
