A partnership movement is not an anonymous bought-in calibre

The name GAP is itself an attribution: German Austrian Partnership. Benzinger’s requirements and decorative language meet Habring’s movement development and construction. GAP 2 then changes both function and appearance, adding a reserve indication while using a guilloched three-quarter plate rather than the earlier openworked layout. An enthusiast can look for the visible change without confusing exclusive development with ownership of every manufacturing process. Towson’s separate description of CNC mills alongside rose engines is also a useful corrective to the idea that fine hand decoration requires a workshop without modern machines. 123

The two-way apprenticeship that was not a formal apprenticeship

Towson describes knowledge flowing in both directions. Balke helped Benzinger with watch engineering and assembly; Benzinger passed on frosting, skeletonisation and rose-engine skills.
