A reversible watch that records, rather than prevents, a shock
Zweigesicht solves two different problems. Its removable lugs preserve the appearance of an ordinary round watch while allowing either face to be worn. Inside, the shock recorder stores evidence of movement: a ruby mass deflects flexible forks and leaves four indicators displaced until reset. The recorder is therefore a memory of impacts, not an extra layer of shock protection. The practical trade-off is visible at the case: changing faces involves small screws, and the independent reviewer found the operation delicate. This gives an enthusiast a more useful account than simply describing the watch as double-sided or highly complicated. 12
Why Seven Spheres required platinum inside titanium
The Seven Spheres development story turns on a manufacturing constraint rather than a slogan. Lang describes a nested titanium structure so light that balancing could not be solved by removing material alone; tiny platinum inserts added mass where needed. The rings also carry the transmission toward the central regulator, making clearance and assembly part of the mechanism’s design. Its four barrels work in parallel, whereas Zweigesicht’s pair is arranged in series. Those are model-specific choices, not a single signature formula applied to everything leaving the atelier. 31
Key dates
Ownership and continuity
The 2020 atelier follows, but is not identical to, the earlier Lang & Heyne venture. 4

Evidence and limits
How the claims are supported
- source stated claim
Zweigesicht-1 is an 18-piece project with two wearable faces and calibre ml-01, using two series-connected barrels and a stated 70-hour reserve.
- verified fact
Its optional shock recorder uses a movable ruby mass, perpendicular flexible forks and four retained indicators, reset through a case-side corrector.
- verified fact
The examined Zweigesicht case was supplied externally; the reviewer describes removal of the lug assemblies to reverse it and warns that the small screws require care.
- source stated claim
Seven Spheres uses calibre ml-02/7sp with seven nested titanium rings and planetary gearing, driven by four parallel barrels; stated reserve is 55 hours.
- source stated claim
Lang’s Seven Spheres account describes construction beginning in summer 2022, miniature platinum inserts for balancing the light titanium rings, and special tooling to assemble the nested structure.
- source stated claim
Marco Lang dates his own atelier to 2020 after leaving Lang & Heyne in 2019; he separately dates an earlier repair-and-sales business to 1999.
- source stated claim
Lang’s biography dates co-founding Lang & Heyne with Mirko Heyne to 2001, a majority-share sale to 2013, and his departure to 2019.

The maker’s biography presents Seven Spheres as its 2026 launch.
- source stated claim
SJX reported release of Zweigesicht construction data in STP and STL formats in September 2023 to support later servicing.

The maker biography/contact lists Dresden, Germany.
Known limits
- Official and independent accounts differ on the early Lang & Heyne date. The 2026 project is documented but customer delivery totals and CAD licence were not checked.
