Reviving a design vocabulary, not inheriting two centuries of production

The examined evidence supports a modern revival, not continuous manufacture from the historical maker. Zwinz’s earlier contract atelier has its own 2004 starting point, while his commercial partner dates the modern Winnerl name to 2018. A named object—marine chronometer No.80—provides a more defensible connection than a generic heritage slogan. The modern technical discussion refers to its balance and reserve indication. Those references can explain what Zwinz chose to study and reinterpret, but they do not prove an acquisition of the historical company or a continuous workshop lineage. 123

Why a reserve indication might jump

The Heart Return combines two user-facing actions: synchronising seconds to a reference time and reading the remaining chronometric running interval. A heart-shaped cam gives the reset mechanism a defined return position; the reserve indication is divided into seven-hour steps rather than shown as an endlessly moving hand. The distinctive point is not simply that the dial has another indicator, but that Zwinz adapted a named marine-chronometer idea to a wristwatch layout. The supplied parts account for his earlier movement should remain alongside—not be silently copied into—the CW03 story. 132
